Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a relatively safe technique that has been used for a long time in the investigation of the biliary tract. ERCP is also applicable to other non-neoplastic diseases of the biliary tract, provided that patients with tumor invasion of the bile ducts are excluded. Among these other diseases we may mention: acute and chronic biliary and pancreatic diseases, which are also indications for this technique; certain biliary lithiasis (except those associated with tumors), which has a good diagnostic yield; etc. We have studied the applicability and diagnostic yield in the last five years of 98 ERCP studies for non-neoplastic diseases of the biliary tract in our own institution and in those of the corresponding published reports. Our data show that: 1) most of the studies were performed as diagnostic procedures; 2) the diagnostic yields are relatively high, given that most patients with acute pancreatitis and common bile duct stones have obstructive jaundice; 3) there are good therapeutic possibilities when these are indicated; 4) ERCP does not add much information in chronic diseases of the biliary tract.Q:

No semen parameter could be demonstrated to be a sensitive or specific parameter in the diagnosis of varicocele.
