You need to install AcuScript Add-on for Autodesk AutoCAD, or you won’t be able to launch any AutoCAD commands from a Autodesk API website, unless you’re running the AcuScript Add-on. You need to run the following command:
acr | x64 | del |.
Change the acr for acr32 if you’re running in 32-bit mode, or acr64 if you’re running in 64-bit mode.
This command doesn’t update any of the existing scripts, so you’ll need to open up the AcuScript Add-on and click the Update button to make sure it’s up-to-date. If you already have the AcuScript Add-on installed, it should update automatically, but it’s possible it hasn’t updated, so you may need to launch the Update button.
You can also use acrupdate to perform the same update without opening the AcuScript Add-on.
Alternatively, if you just want to get the Autocad API working for a single autocad file, you can use the Autocad Save As DGN menu option. When you use Save As DGN, you can specify a file type of dwg, but also a whole bunch of other options. You’ll need to install the AcuScript Add-on for AutoCAD 2016 for that to work. You can either double-click on the Autocad Save As DGN menu item, or you can hit Alt+Spacebar and type in saveas.dwg to access the Save As DGN menu.
Either way, once you open the Save As DGN menu, you’ll see a bunch of options for different file types. You should be able to find Autocad.dwg files there.
